#LoveAndLaughter - Christmas Dinner

Last year on Christmas, I was not feeling well and was worried as every year I prepare all the sweets and food for my family members who visit us during Christmas but this time I was sad as I could not invite any guests due to my ill health and I did not want my daughter to cook the food as she had to take care of her kids as well. I had so many things that I planned for Christmas but all went in vain. However, my husband decided to not let our celebration be boring and hence he decided to take in charge of the cooking department. On hearing this from him, I burst out laughing and my daughter too said that it's better they order from the hotel as my husband did not know the A B and C of cooking. Once earlier he had prepared tea and he forgot to boil it and instead drank raw tea. We argued about this for a long time and then my husband decided to call his other three male friends and make the Christmas dinner. I couldn't refuse looking at his excitement and kept praying that everything goes well.

On 25th December, his friends came over at 3:00 p.m. to start the dinner preparations while the wives of his friends kept chatting with me in the hall. We kept wondering what would our husbands make for dinner and hence decided to order food if anything does not go well. My husband and his friends kept running in and out of the kitchen and we all kept laughing at what are they making. They did not even tell us the menu but we guessed it looking at the items they had ordered. They planned to make fried rice and butter chicken.

Three hours passed by and I and my one friend started peeping in the kitchen to see if all was well inside. My husband saw us and asked us to let them be and he sounded very excited. I kept thinking if everything would be fine and by the look of the kitchen, it was in a complete mess. I could smell some foul smell too. I looked at my friend and said that we would have to manage with the ordered food only.

It was 8:05 p.m. and my husband and his friends served us the starters that were fish fingers. My friend smelled the food to confirm if it wasn't burnt and her husband taunted her confirming that the dish was good. We ate it and it was indeed tasty. After 30 minutes they served us the main course, fried rice and butter chicken. We ate it and it was a bit salty. I did not complain but I was surprised to see that our husbands did manage to make a good dinner. I then entered the kitchen and noticed that it was really in a mess. My husband and his friends started cleaning it then and we all applauded them for their hard work.

It was an evening full of laughter and love and one of the best Christmas moments we spent together. It showed us that if our husbands are determined to do something for us, they complete it with determination.

#LoveAndLaughter - Birthday Surprise

I've never celebrated my birthday as my family did not afford to pay the expenses of a party and hence every year, my mother used to make a cake at home and I used to celebrate it with my brother and sister in the house.

It was the year 2000 and my birthday was on 14th June. I decided with my daughters and my husband to buy a cake and celebrate my birthday at home itself. Everything was set for the day but at the last moment my daughter decided that I should go out with her and have my favorite ice cream from a nearby ice cream parlor. I felt weird as my daughter never liked eating ice cream from that parlor before and when I told my husband to accompany us, he said that he was not feeling well and hence he would stay at home.

My daughter then started buying things from nearby stores to spend more time and I couldn't understand what was going on as it was already quite late and I had left my dinner preparations half at home. I told her to hurry up and after 45 minutes we left for our house. On the way, I scolded her for making it so late as I had to go home and prepare the dinner as well while she kept laughing and told me to relax.

On reaching our home, I opened the door and noticed the room was dark. I thought that the electricity had gone and I immediately spoke out in a frustrated tone "Damn! The electricity is gone again. I will scold the watchman this time and will not give him bonus this Christmas." On saying this,  the lights turned on and a balloon burst on top of my head making me scream. I covered my mouth and was shocked and stunned to see all my relatives clapping and wishing me while my husband was approaching me with a cake. I couldn't believe the sight in front of me and my husband came close to me and said "Luiza, now stop scolding the watchman and blow the candles off." I had happy tears in my eyes and I started laughing so much. I blew the candles and cut the cake with my family and my daughter clicked my photograph while the cake was applied on my cheeks by my cousins.
It was the best day of my life and I can never forget those moments ever.
